The Postpartum Period (After Baby)
In Manitoba, prenatal patients will see their doctor/midwife on average 12 times throughout pregnancy. Postpartum patients will typically see their doctor one time outside of the hospital setting, and unfortunately nurses and physicians are often difficult to access in the community.
I believe that after having a baby, you deserve to be cared for and supported, both physically and emotionally. It is documented that parents who get this care and support have better physical and mental outcomes (improved healing, higher chances of breastfeeding rates, reduction of risk of postpartum depression, increased parent confidence, as well an increase in self-assessed parent-child bonding).
If you’re feeling nervous about caring for your newborn after birth and want to feel as prepared and confident as possible, I would love to help.
